The Department of Aquaculture Management of Prabhat Kumar College, Contai started its journey in 2019. It is a newly established department having much more potential to become a front runner in the fulfillment of students need. The Department started with B.Sc. in Aquaculture Management (Hons.) programme with only 20 students. Just after completion of one year of its academic journey, huge demands from the local people forced the college authority to enhance the number seat up to 30. Purba Medinipur district has vast and varied inland and marine fisheries resources and the practice of aquaculture is being increasing day by day due to its economic market value in India and abroad. The department has provided an exposure to our students’ in off field visit to the multi aquaculture farms which have established in this region and may create a job opportunity to the passed out students in these farms. Though the department is very new, but our faculty members try their level best to complete the whole syllabus in stipulated time period and take a special care in practical classes and frequently conducted short visit to different fish farms like catfish breeding farms, prawn and shrimp processing and preservation farms etc. for an on field exposure of our students.
