The Department organized 2-day UGC-sponsored National Seminar on
“War, Literature & Humanity : Rethinking English Literature in the Context of World War I” during 18-19 November, 2015. Keynote delivered by Prof. Saugata Bhaduri of JNU.
The Department along with other departments of Humanities organized International Conference on Reason, Culture and Morality during 07-09 January 2019.
Special lecture
The department was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity of having Professor Sharan Kumar Limbale, the legendary Dalit writer and activist delivering a Special Lecture on “Dalit Literature : Politics and Aesthetics” on 31.03.2017
Memorial lecture
The Department introduced Narendranath Banerjee Memorial Lecture from 2019 to pay homage to the legendary teacher of the department.
The Inaugural Narendranath Banerjee Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof. Ananda Lal of Jadavpur University on 03.04.19.
The Second Narendranath Banerjee Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof. Sanjukta Dasgupta of the University of Calcutta on 12.03.2020.
