The Department of Zoology of P. K. College has been considered as one of the highly rated departments of the College. Due to demand of the students of Contai Sub-division and adjoining areas B. Sc. Course in Biological Science was introduced in 1981 with Zoology, Botany and Chemistry under the University of Calcutta. Subsequently satisfactory result and demand of the students forced the College authority to introduce the Honours level couse in Zoology in 1998 under the Vidyasagar University. From the academic session 2017-18, the Department of Zoology has introduced the Semester system of evaluation at the Under Graduate (Honours) level (CBCS system). From the academic session 2018-19, the Department of Zoology has shifted to the Semester system (CBCS) of evaluation at the Under Graduate (General) level also, affiliated to the Vidyasagar University. The academic excellence of the Department is evident from the outstanding performance of the students of undergraduate who have studied their post graduate courses in different universities of India, and they have established themselves in India and abroad.
